I was SO excited to eat this. My wonderful husband made this for me while he had the blender out for my son’s smoothie. I LOVE how it turned out!!!
My husband feels that he tastes a lot of the almond butter, but I don’t notice it at all. I think that eating the paleo 100% of the time changed my palate. Things that I did not find sweet before, are now wonderfully sweet. Obviously, if you are watching your sugar intake, you’re not going to eat one of these every night. After making it, I drank a little (and had to steal it away from my son) and then put the rest in the freezer because I wanted to experiment with making it a bit colder. The ice that I put into the blender didn’t seem to be there at all when we were done blending.
Just FYI, I do NOT taste the avocado at all.
8 ounces of almond milk (unsweetened and without lots of added ingredients–read the label)
1 ripe banana
1/2 ripe avocado
2 Tbsp almond butter
1/2 cup crushed ice
4 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 Tbsp raw organic honey (or 3 Tbsp if you omit stevia)
10 drops of pure stevia (or sweeten and taste as you go)
Blend until smooth. You can put in the freezer for a bit if you want it to be more slushy.
